PLANT: Dwarf Lilac

Common name: Dwarf Lilac
Latin name: Syringa 'Josee' (pronounced - see-RING-ga JOE-zee)

A great decorative tree, or something to plant in a bed with perennials, dwaf lilac doesn't get taller than four or five foot, and grows quite slowly to reach that height.

It has lovely pink blossoms which last all summer if kept well fed. It is fully hardy and doesn't seem to even mind strong winds.

We planted this one in a big terracotta pot a few years ago, and it laps up the sunshine. However, for a while it was in a shaded patio area and it did well there too (if perhaps with less flowers and slower growth).

The pink flowers have a very nice soapy perfume smell, which wafts on the wind.
