The Swallow

We have a pond in our garden which acts as the perfect feeding ground for hungry, migrating swifts. They like to spend their days flying in from a distance in groups and dive bombing into the water from one direction and another, picking up all the insects. It is quite theatrical and can go on all day in the high summer.

So today I headed out to get some action shots of them at play.

The birds are currently amber listed by the RSPB because of a decline in numbers across continental Europe so it is good to see that they have a ready supply of foodstuffs in North Antrim.
