The Woodpigeon
Today I awoke to find a woodpigeon hopping around the pond with two wagtails. This is the first time I can recall ever seeing a woodpigeon in the garden here, but I was glad of it as it gave me the chance to tick another bird off the checklist.
Woodpigeons are relatively common birds in the British Isles but they tend to prefer, as the name suggests, wooded areas or farmland, so it is nice to see one making an appearance in the garden. They do like to eat berries, so planting some more trees with berries is something on my to-do list for this winter.
